Hi there! My card for today features the new My Favorite Things Giraffing Me Crazy stamp set and Safari Tree Die-namics die. Just like you can never have too many koala stamps, I guess I can never have too many giraffe stamps!
For my background piece, I die-cut a stitched rectangle from kraft cardstock using the My Favorite Things Blueprints 31 Die-namics and stenciled a zebra print using a Delta stencil and Memento Peanut Brittle ink.
I colored the giraffes with Copics on 100lb. Neenah Environment Desert Storm cardstock and die-cut them with the coordinating die-namics dies. I die-cut the Safari tree from a textured Tim Holtz Core’dinations cardstock and olive green cardstock and I was then ready to adhere all of my elements.
I wanted the larger giraffe to extend way above the top of the tree, so to do this I had to cut the giraffe in half at the base of his neck. I then adhered the head/neck portion towards the top of the card. My original plan was to keep all of the elements within that rectangle background piece, but overlapping the top edge and “going out of bounds” really emphasized my very tall giraffe.
Next, I adhered the bottom portion of the giraffe towards the bottom of the card and the tree trunk over the top of both pieces. A little layering of the leafy portions with a few adhered using dimensional adhesive gives the tree more visual interest.
I also used dimensional adhesive on the smaller giraffe to bring him more forward in the scene.
I stamped a sentiment from this stamp set on a My Favorite Things patterned paper, die-cut the sentiment with another die from the Blueprints 31 and matted the piece on dark brown cardstock.
Sweet cartoonish giraffes are sure to bring a smile!
Hope you enjoyed my card for today and thanks for stopping by!
