Art Impressions

I love you slow much!

Happy Friday! I’ve got a new card to share today using the Sloth-some stamps from Art Impressions. These just crack me up! Who wouldn’t want this sloth on a Valentine’s card?

I love airbrushing with Copics. I know, I’ve said this before, but I really really love it!

For this card, I discovered how cool it is to use dies with airbrushing. I started by stamping the sloth image in a light gray ink and masking the image. I always leave the coloring of the image as the last step when I’m doing a background like this, especially if it’s a technique I haven’t tried before.

I chose 2 different size heart dies (these are Concord & 9th dies from the Monster Love stamps) and I die-cut them through eclipse tape adhered to a piece of cardstock. I removed the eclipse tape from the cardstock and I used the eclipse tape portion only of  both the heart die-cut shape and the negative die-cuts.

I started at the top and adhered a negative heart die-cut and then covered the rest of the white panel with cardstock to make sure there wasn’t any overspray. I airbrushed with R11 and continued varying the 2 heart shapes, airbrushing with R20, R21, R22 and a little R24. I then went back and adhered a heart die-cut over the large heart (right above the red balloon) and airbrushed around the shape. Some of the hearts are slightly transparent which was cool and unexpected. Each time I airbrushed a heart, I made sure to cover the rest of the white panel. It’s a little time intensive, but worth it.

I love how my R22 sprays a little messy. It added a little texture to some of the balloons. Embrace it if it happens!

I colored up the sloth image with Copics and added colored pencil detail. I just love his smiley face!

Hope you enjoyed this one and have a sloth-some weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!
