Hi there! What could be happier on a Monday than a bear on a bicycle? I saw this Happy Day stamp set from Waffle Flower Crafts and had to have it. Aside from paper crafting, cycling is a huge passion of mine and since I spent the better part of this past weekend on one bike or another, I thought this card was perfect this morning.
This was my first adventure with Faber Castell Polychromos and these pencils are a pure delight to work with. I’ve been coloring with Prismacolor Premier pencils for about 10 years and while they’re really nice pencils, I got tired of the breakage that seems to be so common with them these days. I love how smooth the Polychromos lay down color and blend and I’m not afraid to sharpen them for fear of the leads breaking in the casing. Beauty.
I originally intended to make this an A2 size card with my colored scene and sentiment, but then decided it looked a little plain. After coloring the scene on a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper, I matted it on a dark purple cardstock sized just a bit smaller than my 5″ x 7″ card and added a little patterned paper strip at the bottom for part of the sentiment.
I cut a strip of vellum and embossed it with a Sizzix embossing folder on the left side and then stamped, colored and die-cut a flower and a few leaves from the My Favorite Things Blissful Blooms stamp set and coordinating die-namics. I adhered the flower with dimensional adhesive.
I finished it off by stamping a banner from the Lawn Fawn Bannerific stamp set on patterned paper, cutting it out and adding the sentiment from the Happy Day set. I also adhered this with dimensional adhesive for a little extra interest.
I hope the bear on a bicycle brings a smile today and thanks for stopping by!
