Hi there! Today’s card is all about gloss, sheen, and shimmer. I’ll admit, this one took quite a bit of time to create, but it was fun combining several different techniques.
First I stamped a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of white Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock with the My Favorite Things Mermaid Tail background stamp in versamark ink. I heat embossed the stamped background with Wow! Long Island Teal embossing powder.
Then, I added a little color to the stamped background with a light green Zig clean color pen. Once this was dry, I went over the background with clear Wink of Stella. It’s difficult to catch this in still photos, but lots and lots of shine in that background!
Next, I stamped, masked and colored a mermaid and rock from the My Favorite Things Mermazing stamp set. I fussy cut around the entire image and then stamped the mermaid a second time so I could work on the mermaid tale separately. I used a fish scale Copic coloring technique on the mermaid tail, pressed it on a versamark ink pad and heat embossed the tail with Stampin’ Up! iridescent ice embossing powder. I fussy cut around the mermaid tail and adhered it to my original image.
I die-cut 3 waves in various blue cardstock with the My Favorite Things Ocean Waves die-namics and added a bit of gloss to the edges using an embossing pen and UTEE.
I tucked the rock portion of the image slightly under the wave and popped the mermaid up just a little with a thin dimensional adhesive.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut a fish from the stamp set and hand cut 3 small water splashes. They needed a little gloss too, so I randomly inked them in spots with an embossing pen and heat embossed once again with UTEE.
To finish it off, I die-cut a patterned paper with the My Favorite Things Stitched Sentiment Strips die-namics, matted it on a second patterned paper and stamped a sentiment from the set.
A dark teal cardstock mat really made the card front pop on the white card base.
I hope you enjoyed my card for today and thanks for stopping by!
