Magical Dragon Monday

June 5, 2017 in My Favorite Things - No Comments

Hi there! I thought I’d share a magical dragon for your Monday because, well, all Mondays should have a magical dragon. One of the main reasons I started making cards again is to make people feel good, let them know they’re appreciated and thought of, so my dragon is a motivational job well done little guy and I know a few people who could really use some of this.

I used the My Favorite Things Magical Dragons stamp set on this card and I originally stamped and masked the dragon, fire and smoke on 80 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. I drew the rocks under the dragon with a Copic multi-liner and then colored all of my images with Copics.

Then, I decided the white background just wasn’t working and I wanted my dragon against a patterned paper background. I fussy cut around the dragon, fire and rocks as one single piece and cut out the smoke accents. I matted a My Favorite Things patterned paper on orange cardstock and adhered my dragon scene just below the center of the card.

I die-cut a specialty paper from The Paper Company that looks a little like reptile skin from a My Favorite Things sentiment die and matted it on a dark gray cardstock.

I didn’t have a smoke stamp or die large enough for my sentiment, so I die-cut a cloud from the Lawn Fawn Simple Puffy Clouds dies and colored it with W1 and a colorless blender to add some swirls and look a little more like my puffs of smoke above.

I hope you have a magical Monday and thanks for stopping by!
