Creating Bubbles with Texture Paste

June 1, 2017 in Paper Smooches - No Comments

Hi there! I have a quick and simple card to share today featuring the Paper Smooches Courteous Cuties stamp set. I was going for a soft background of water on this and it gave me the perfect opportunity to try out some texture paste that I purchased recently.

First, I cut a piece of 80lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar white cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″and then stamped the sea turtle and masked/stamped a few seaweed images from the set. I masked all of the images before I airbrushed a large portion of the cardstock with Copic marker BG11.

To form the bubbles, I taped a Memory Box Bubbles mini stencil across the airbrushed portion and filled in the bubbles with a Copic colorless blender. I could have stopped there and the bubble effect looked pretty good, but I wanted a little raised shine to them. I thinly spread some Tim Holtz clear texture paste across the stencil and let it dry. This paste is a really nice weight and very easy to spread. It dries quickly and gave me just the look I wanted.

I colored the images with Copics and stamped a simple sentiment at the top. Super easy card, but still has an unexpected aspect with the glossy bubbles.

Hope you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by!
