Hi there! Today’s card features the My Favorite Things Up in the Air stamp set. Birdie Brown does it again with adorable little animals and fun hot air balloons! First, a little info about the cloud background:
There’s numerous ways to create the look of clouds with inks and my personal favorite is using the Copic airbrush system. Usually I will die-cut either individual clouds or a cloud border and airbrush around the die-cuts, but for this card I wanted to use the new My Favorite Things Cloud Stencil.
After I die-cut a piece of 80 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with the My Favorite Things Blueprints 31 Die-namics, I began at the top of the cardstock and airbrushed one edge around the stencil with B000. The stencil is approximately 6″x6″ and each edge has a slightly different cloud shape.
I then rotated the stencil and placed one edge towards the middle of the cardstock, covering up what I had already airbrushed, and continued rotating the stencil a few more times towards the bottom of the piece.
A little goes a long way when you’re airbrushing, so I always start off to the side of the project I’m working on to get an idea of exactly where the color is laying down.
The stencil made this technique really easy and the clean up of the stencil was a breeze using a little colorless blender and a cloth.
I colored the balloons and dog with Copics and die-cut them with the coordinating Die-namics. The dog and banner are popped up with dimensional adhesive for a little interest.
I finished it off by die-cutting a 2″ x 4″ piece of a My Favorite Things patterned paper using the stitched rectangle die from the Blueprints 31 set first, and then the half circle die from this set along one edge. The sentiment is also from this stamp set and it’s stamped on a die-cut gray cardstock using the My Favorite Things Oval Word Window Frames Die-namics and adhered with dimensional adhesive.
I can’t wait to give this to a friend who was recently promoted at work!
Hope you enjoyed today’s card and thanks for stopping by!
